Logitech G910 Orion Spark Review

Behold the holy grail of gaming mechanical keyboards when it comes to the MOBA & MMO/RPG genre. The Logitech G910 Orion Spark is in a league of its own when you compare it to other keyboards meant for games like League of Legends.

Logitech made sure to equip the keyboard with no gimmicky features but only the ones that you will actually need while playing LoL and other similar games. Extended media controls, dedicated macro keys, sick looks, the G910 has got it all. Lets talk about some of the features of this keyboard.

Design and Build

Design and Build - Logitech G910 Orion Spark Review

Just by the first look, you can easily say that the Logitech G910 Orion Spark is meant for MMO and MOBA games due to the presence of so many extra keys. Since League of Legends involves so many functions a keyboard with extra keys will always give you the edge you need.

The main chassis of the keyboard is made from all plastic while the keycaps are made from ABS plastic. On the first hand, the keyboard feels a bit cheaply made but the quality is still up to Logitech’s standards.

The ABS plastic keycaps feel good but they are highly prone to any kind of oils and fingerprint. Unfortunately, the contour of the keycaps is also a bit weird which might be uncomfortable and become a problem while typing.

Weighing in at about 1.5 Kg, the G910 is definitely not a lightweight keyboard so it is not that portable. All in all, the build quality is the only aspect of the keyboard that failed to impress me, other than that it’s all good.

To be simple, the Logitech G910 Orion Spark is decent when it comes to ergonomics as well. The keyboard only has a single incline adjustment setting which was a bit of a disappointment.

Flipping the keyboard reveals Rubber feet that keep the Orion Spark stable and in place at all times while gaming. In my experience, the keyboard moved when jerked heavily. Although not great, they definitely do their job.

The keyboard also features a built-in wrist rest that only covers the left side of the chassis. It might be meant for the comfort of the gamer but it ended up tiring my wrist quicker than I wanted.

Made from plastic, the palm rest is not all that good either but the good thing is that you can always buy a good foam palm rest for a few dollars. Moreover, the wrist rest is not detachable.

Multimedia & Macro

In terms of the usability of the keyboard, this is where the keyboard excels at. On the left edge of the G910 Orion Spark, you can find a set of 5 keys, and on the top-left edge a set of 4 keys. Logitech likes to call these the G-keys which are basically dedicated macro keys.

The 9 G-Keys named from G1 to G9 serve as dedicated macro keys allowing you to assign macros and program them however you like using the Logitech G Hub software. This is something that I truly appreciate and what makes the G910 arguably the Best Mechanical Keyboard for League of Legends.

There is also another set of 4 keys on the topmost left edge numbered M1 through M4. Similar to the G keys, these four keys also serve as extra dedicated buttons. You can assign different key binds, macros, and secondary functions to these keys as well.

The top right of the chassis also features countless other multimedia buttons including pause/play, stop, next, previous, and a volume scroller. Thankfully, you can fully program these buttons to any function you like using the G HUB software.

As far as switch selection goes, the G910 Orion Spark uses Romer-G mechanical switches that claim to offer up to 25% faster actuation compared to regular mechanical switches such as MX Cherry and Kailh.

Packed with proprietary tactile Romer-G switches from Logitech, these mechanical switches have a tactile bump that provides audible feedback on every keystroke. These switches are very similar to standard MX Cherry Browns.

The use of these switches instead of MX Cherry ones, in this case, is a good thing since Romer-G switches are specifically designed for professional gaming. Even with the tactile bumps, there is not really that much typing noise.

Although great for gaming, the typing experience felt a bit off and subpar at best. The keycaps with their weird surface really are to blame for that. The travel distance is short allowing for faster actuation might become a cause for typos when typing.

RGB Lighting & Other Features

Logitech’s LightSync RGB lighting on gaming keyboards and gaming mice never fails to impress and so is the case with the G910 Orion Spark. Powered by Logitech’s proprietary LightSync technology, the backlighting illumination looks flawless.

The G HUB software allows access to hundreds of lighting effects, patterns, and presets. Paired with a good gaming mouse and other RGB elements, your setup can turn into something great.

The best thing about the Logitech LightSync RGB system is that it automatically syncs to the ongoing in-game actions and responses. Other than that the G HUB software already offers support for countless Triple-A titles and other categories of games.

Just like any other mechanical gaming keyboard, anti-ghosting keys are a must and this guy has 119 such keys. The keyboard also comes with something called the ARX Control that allows you to connect your smartphone using the ARX app.

All in all, the Logitech G910 Orion Spark is a great buy with all of its distinctive features and dedicated keys making it the overall Best Gaming Keyboard for League of Legends and other MOBA games.
